Rural and Lifestyle Fencing - About Us

We have built our reputation  on a professional and reliable approach emphasising on quality and customer satisfaction. With our approach comes the satisfaction that the majority of our work comes from personal recommendation.

We begin our service to you, with a visit to your premises, to discuss your requirements and to offer you our professional opinion on design and what type of fencing is best for your property. We will provide you with a free, no obligation quotation.

Our reputation is our business, having built it through delivering a quality of service that strives to exceed all standards. Working closely with our customers to fulfill their needs, we have worked on many projects with lifestyle block owners, large and small farms, equestrian establishments and local government bodies.

We work closely with local supplies to ensure we can put together the right solution for your needs.

At Rural and Lifestyle contracting you are dealing directly with Andy Smith, the owner operator, so can be assured of receiving the best service. Andy lives on his fifth generation family farm at Cust, where he has run a very successful sheep, deer, beef, and cropping operation for the past twenty years. Andy now leases out the farm to concentrate on his fencing contracting business, where he thoroughly enjoys his work.
Andy has been involved with horses for many years. He has owned and run a successful Appaloosa Stud, standing SOUTHBOUND Mc CUE, for many years, along with his former wife. This entailed handling the stallion, our own mares and foals, yearling, plus outside mares.
Through the Stud Andy became a member of Canterbury and Districts Regional Appaloosa club, eventually becoming president, and also as a committee member of ApHANZ, the Appaloosa Horse Association of New Zealand, frequently flying to Auckland to attend conferences.
Andy has been involved in many shows and events, from helping organise  three day shows, to gate and ring stewarding for the national Appaloosa Show as well as in hand showing the studs, young stock and most things in between. Andy has also been involved in the Canterbury endurance and trail riding club competing for many years in trail riding.

Please check out our testimonials page to hear what our customers have to say, and our gallery to take a look at some of the projects we have been involved with.

No fencing job is too big or too small. So from a replacement gudgeon to a full block subdivision we have the solution for you.
